Three Male Tennis Players Selected for Academic All-District Team

Farmingdale State College Men’s Tennis Players Earn Academic All-District Honors

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – Three Farmingdale State College men’s tennis student-athletes have been recognized for their outstanding performances both on the court and in the classroom. Seniors Alan Sabovic and Muhammad Sawar, along with sophomore Ryan Hendel, have been named to the 2023-24 Academic All-District Men’s and Women’s Tennis Teams by College Sports Communicators.

The Academic All-District program recognizes the top student-athletes in the nation for their achievements in academics and athletics. Sabovic, a Science, Technology and Society major with a 3.70 GPA, was named the 2024 Skyline Conference Player of the Year after an impressive senior season. He went 16-0 in singles play and 14-3 in doubles competition, finishing his collegiate career with a 40-7 record in singles and a 41-17 record in doubles.

Hendel, a business management major with a 3.69 GPA, earned his second consecutive First Team All-Skyline Conference accolade this season. He posted a 9-2 record in singles play and a 12-4 record in doubles, bringing his overall collegiate singles record to 20-5 and doubles record to 27-7.

Sawar, a Global Business Management major with a 3.93 GPA, received Second Team All-Skyline honors in his second season with the Rams. He went 9-3 in singles play and 12-2 in doubles, compiling a 27-5 record in doubles competition during his time at Farmingdale State.

The Farmingdale State College men’s tennis team had an outstanding season, finishing with a 17-1 record and capturing the Skyline Conference title for the second consecutive year. They also earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship with an unblemished record, showcasing their talent both on and off the court.
