The Tri-Valley League track and field championships took place at Susquenita High School on Wednesday, showcasing some impressive performances from East Juniata and Juniata athletes.

East Juniata’s Josef Book stole the show by setting a new TVL record in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.56. He also dominated the 300-meter hurdles, claiming another TVL record with a time of 39.72. Book’s outstanding performance earned him top honors in both events.

Juniata’s Jasper Shepps put up a strong fight, finishing second behind Book in both the 110-meter hurdles and the 300-meter hurdles. Shepps also secured a second-place finish in the high jump with a height of 6-0.

The competition was fierce, with Greenwood ultimately taking the top spot in team scoring for both the girls and boys. Juniata and East Juniata also put up a good fight, with several athletes achieving personal records and impressive finishes.

Overall, coaches Maisie Aumiller and Johnna Towsey were pleased with their teams’ performances, noting the high level of competition at the championships. While it may have been a rebuilding year for East Juniata, they still managed to showcase their talent and determination on the track.

With district competitions on the horizon, both East Juniata and Juniata are looking to carry their momentum into the next phase of the season. The athletes are focused and determined to continue their success as they face off against tough competition in the coming weeks.
