Tigers and Pirates each win one game in doubleheader – WSJM Morning Sports

In a thrilling night of Major League Baseball action, the Pittsburgh Pirates salvaged a doubleheader split with the Detroit Tigers by routing them 10-2 in the second game. Paul Skenes was dominant on the mound, striking out nine and earning his second career victory. Andrew McCutchen had a standout performance, hitting a three-run homer for his 1,600th career hit and driving in four runs overall. Nick Gonzales also contributed with three hits, including a solo homer.

In the first game of the doubleheader, the Detroit Tigers had a strong showing, pounding the Pittsburgh Pirates 8-0. Matt Vierling was the standout player, hitting a three-run homer and driving in four runs for the Tigers. Tarik Skubal also had a stellar performance, holding the Pirates to just three singles and a walk in seven innings.

Meanwhile, in other MLB games, the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Chicago White Sox 3-1 thanks to a strong bullpen performance, and the Milwaukee Brewers came to life against the Chicago Cubs, winning 10-6 with home runs from Christian Yelich, Blake Perkins, and Willy Adames.
