Marshall Tigers Win Section 3AA Boys Golf Tournament, Headed to State

BUFFALO LAKE — The Marshall Tigers boys golf team clinched their first team section title since 2014 at the Section 3AA tournament, securing their 10th state tournament appearance. Jayden Manthei, Luke Ehlers, and Nate Panka led the Tigers with top-5 individual finishes, propelling the team to victory.

Head coach Kari Ehlers expressed her pride in the team’s hard work and dedication, noting that the players had been actively competing in summer tournaments to stay sharp during the offseason. The Tigers dominated the competition, finishing 24 strokes ahead of the runner-up team, New London-Spicer.

Marshall’s strong performance on both days of the tournament showcased their peak form at the right time. The team maintained a significant lead throughout the competition, with a two-day score of 600, securing their spot at the state tournament.

Individual standout performances from Manthei, Ehlers, and Panka contributed to the team’s success. Manthei, in his final season, finished third overall with a score of 147, while Ehlers placed fourth with a total of 148. Panka’s impressive performance earned him a tie for fifth place.

The Tigers’ cohesive team dynamic and determination were evident throughout the tournament, with each player supporting and motivating their teammates. The team’s focus now shifts to the upcoming Class AA state tournament, where they aim to continue their winning streak and compete for top honors.
