Reading Time: < 1 minute

Hollidaysburg’s Jake Hileman rounds the bases during the Tigers’ 9-1 win Monday afternoon at Bald Eagle Area High School, capturing the school’s first District 6 Class 5A title since 2017 and ending Central Mountain’s five-year title run.

Senior Carson Kensinger was the star of the game, both on the mound and at the plate. Kensinger pitched a three-hitter, striking out nine and walking one in a complete-game effort. He also went 3-for-4 with a massive three-run home run over the center field fence and four RBIs.

Despite the game being tied 1-1 through the first three innings, Kensinger remained focused and determined. He worked out of a jam in the fourth inning by striking out two Central Mountain batters with the bases loaded.

The floodgates opened for the Golden Tigers in the fourth inning, scoring four runs to take the lead. With runners on base, Ty Szynal hit a triple that sparked the team’s offense. Hileman and Kensinger added to the lead with key hits.

Kensinger sealed the victory in the top of the seventh with a three-run shot that hit the scoreboard beyond center field, solidifying the 9-1 win.

The Golden Tigers will now advance to a sub-regional game next week, facing the winner of the DuBois and Obama Academy matchup. Coach Jon Szynal praised Kensinger’s performance, highlighting his leadership and ability to come through in clutch situations.
