Tigers make a comeback in 2A softball tournament: Section 2A roundup | News, Sports, Jobs

In a thrilling Section 2A Softball Tournament quarterfinals game at Caswell Park in North Mankato, the Springfield Tigers faced off against New Ulm Cathedral. Despite a valiant effort, the Tigers fell short with a final score of 6-5, putting them in the elimination bracket.

Determined to keep their playoff hopes alive, Springfield bounced back in a must-win game against Cleveland. The Tigers came out strong, securing an 8-5 victory over Cleveland to advance in the tournament. Emma Hauger led the charge for Springfield, going 2 for 2 with an RBI and three runs scored, while Jasmine Novotny added two RBIs to the scoreboard.

With the win over Cleveland, Springfield now gears up for a crucial elimination bracket semifinals game against United South Central. The Tigers will face off against United South Central at 5 p.m. at Caswell Park on Tuesday, with the winner advancing to play Martin County West later that same night for a shot at the section finals against Cathedral on Thursday.

Jalivia Richert played a pivotal role in the Tigers’ success, both at the plate and on the mound. Richert’s performance, along with the team’s resilience, has kept Springfield’s playoff dreams alive as they continue their journey through the Section 2A Softball Tournament.
