Tigers secure split in doubleheader against St. Louis – WSJM Morning Sports

In a thrilling doubleheader between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Detroit Tigers, rookie Wenceel Pérez made history by hitting home runs from both sides of the plate to help the Tigers secure an 11-6 victory over the Cardinals. This feat marked the first time a Tigers rookie achieved this since 1996. In the first game, Jack Flaherty of the Cardinals set an American League record with seven straight strikeouts to start the game, ultimately striking out a career-high 14 batters. However, the Cardinals fell short as the Tigers rallied in the ninth inning to win 2-1.

In other MLB action, the New York Mets defeated the Chicago Cubs 4-2, with DJ Stewart hitting a crucial three-run homer to secure the win. The Minnesota Twins continued their winning streak by defeating the Chicago White Sox 6-5, with Max Kepler driving in the tiebreaking run in the ninth inning.

In the NBA playoffs, the Milwaukee Bucks stayed alive in the series against the Indiana Pacers with a dominant 115-92 victory, led by Khris Middleton and Bobby Portis who each scored 29 points.
