Top Seeds Advance in CCIW Men’s Tennis Tournament

The semifinal round of the 2024 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Tennis Tournament in Waukesha, Wis., saw the top four seeds emerge victorious on Thursday.

The #1 seed, North Central, dominated #8 Elmhurst with a 5-0 win. Guillermo Gonzalez stood out with wins in both doubles and singles matches, helping his team secure the victory.

Wheaton, the #4 seed, defeated #5 seed Carroll 5-1 to advance to the semifinals for the fourth consecutive year. Joey Geisz, Cody Ching, and Evan Walther delivered the singles wins needed for Wheaton to move forward.

Defending champion #2 seed Carthage also had a strong showing, defeating #7 seed Millikin 5-0. The Firebirds secured their victories with strong performances in doubles matches.

In the final quarterfinal match, #3 seed Augustana blanked #6 seed Illinois Wesleyan 5-0. Augustana showcased their depth with seven different players contributing to the win.

The stage is now set for the semifinals, where North Central will face Wheaton and Carthage will take on Augustana.
