Top tourist towns in NSW unveiled – Travel News

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The NSW Top Tourism Town Awards are back, and this year 19 towns from across the state are in the running for the top spot. The awards, hosted by the NSW Tourism Industry Council, aim to recognize towns that excel in tourism development, visitation, and driving the visitor economy.

With finalists in three categories based on population size, the competition is fierce. Tiny towns with fewer than 1500 residents like Broke in the Hunter Valley and Huskisson in the South Coast are up against small towns with fewer than 5000 residents such as Berry in the South Coast and Gloucester in the North Coast. Larger towns with populations over 5000 residents like Ballina in the North Coast and Kiama in the South Coast are also in the running.

The public now has the opportunity to cast their vote for their favorite town, with voting opening on May 13, 2024. The winners will be announced on May 29, 2024, and will go on to represent NSW at Australia’s Top Tourism Town Awards later in the year.

Executive Director of the NSW Tourism Industry Council, Paula Martin, commended the resilience of the towns and emphasized the importance of tourism in driving the economy.
