Tornos News | Report on ‘Nature Positive’ highlights a new era of collaboration in travel and tourism

In a groundbreaking move to support Nature Positive Tourism, the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC), the World Tourism Organization (UN Tourism), and the Sustainable Hospitality Alliance have come together to publish a joint report titled “Nature Positive Travel & Tourism in Action.”

Launched on Earth Day 2024, this report outlines a comprehensive plan to help halt and reverse biodiversity loss, in alignment with the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) set by the UN. The report features over 30 case studies from around the world, showcasing inspiring actions taken by businesses, government agencies, civil society groups, and partnerships to protect and conserve nature.

The leaders of these organizations, including WTTC President & CEO Julia Simpson, UN Tourism Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili, and Sustainable Hospitality Alliance CEO Glenn Mandziuk, expressed their commitment to integrating environmental stewardship into the core of travel experiences. They emphasized the importance of the tourism sector in becoming stewards of nature and contributing to the conservation of biodiversity.

The report, developed in collaboration with ANIMONDIAL, offers actionable guidance and insights to empower businesses to nurture and protect the destinations they rely on. It highlights the intrinsic link between biodiversity and tourism’s resilience, urging both travel providers and travelers to embark on journeys that contribute to the conservation of natural treasures.
