Toronto business receives assistance from volunteers in flood recovery efforts

The Last Resort Riverfront Bar & Grill in Toronto faced a challenging situation as floodwaters from the Ohio River entered the establishment and pushed many of the docks from its marina downstream. Despite the damage, the business was able to reopen on Saturday evening, thanks to the incredible support and effort of the community.

Owner Dave Ott expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming support received during this difficult time. Over 50 volunteers came together to clean and disinfect the building within a 12-hour period, allowing the restaurant to pass inspection and resume operations.

While the business still faces challenges ahead, including the loss of half of its docks and some equipment, Ott remains optimistic about the future. Local businesses, such as White Glove Supply and Tri-B’s Coffee Shop, have contributed to the recovery efforts, showing the power of community solidarity.

Merco Marine, a dock building company, also played a crucial role in recovering the lost docks, with plans in place to have them ready for Memorial Day weekend. Ott emphasized the importance of working together as a community, highlighting the unity and support that have been instrumental in the business’s recovery.
