Toto Wolff open to meeting with Max Verstappen regarding potential move to Mercedes in F1

Toto Wolff, the team principal of Mercedes, has hinted at the possibility of a meeting with Max Verstappen to discuss the potential of the Dutch driver replacing Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes. Verstappen, currently contracted with Red Bull until 2028, has expressed his commitment to staying with the team for now.

After the Miami Grand Prix, Wolff neither confirmed nor denied a meeting with Verstappen’s representatives but acknowledged ongoing discussions about the team’s second driver. He emphasized the importance of fairness and transparency in the decision-making process, stating that they are not playing games with human lives.

Verstappen, who finished second in Miami, has consistently expressed his desire to be in the fastest car and the right environment. Wolff believes that Verstappen holds the key to this year’s driver market, with teams closely monitoring his decisions as the 2026 regulations approach.
