Fifteen people were injured in a tram crash at Universal Studios Hollywood on Saturday evening, with at least one person reportedly sustaining critical injuries. The Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to the scene and transported the victims to local hospitals with minor injuries, as reported by KTLA. However, the exact cause of the crash remains unclear, and it is uncertain if any other vehicles were involved.
The trams involved in the incident are part of the theme park’s signature Studio Tour, which takes guests through iconic Hollywood film sets. The LACFD Public Information Office confirmed the incident in a tweet, stating that 15 patients were transported to local hospitals with minor injuries. The California Highway Patrol will lead the investigation into the crash.
A spokesperson for Universal Studios expressed their concern for the guests involved in the accident and stated that they are working to understand the circumstances that led to the incident. This incident comes on the heels of a lawsuit filed against the theme park earlier this month related to a 2022 incident involving passengers stranded on the Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey attraction.
