Tourism Authorities Promote Puerto Plata as a Premier Travel Destination

The Puerto Plata Tourism Cluster (CTDPP) and the Dominican Republic Association of Tourist Press (ADOMPRETUR) have solidified their partnership during the 24th edition of the Dominican Annual Tourism Exchange (DATE). In a meeting between CTDPP President Birgitt Heinsen and ADOMPRETUR President Yenny Lovera, the two organizations discussed ways to enhance collaboration and work with the news media to achieve common tourism goals.

As part of their agreement, ADOMPRETUR journalists will collaborate with CTDPP through workshops, conferences, and familiarization meetings to support the Puerto Plata destination brand. Heinsen emphasized the importance of ADOMPRETUR’s support in promoting Puerto Plata, stating that their partnership is crucial for effectively showcasing the destination’s values.

Lovera announced that CTDPP will serve as an intermediary for information requests, special coverage requests, and press trips aimed at promoting Puerto Plata as a premier travel destination. This collaboration comes at a time when the tourism industry in the Dominican Republic is experiencing significant growth, with a 10.7 percent increase in 2023 contributing $9.7 billion to the country’s GDP.
