Tourism Executives Report Consistent Travel Demand in UAE Throughout Summer and Winter

Summer tourism in the UAE is booming, with hotels and airlines experiencing the same levels of occupancy as in the winter months. This trend is attributed to the increasing number of tourist attractions and activities available during the summer season.

According to hotel and airline executives, foreign visitors are now combining visits to Dubai and Abu Dhabi, making the UAE a year-round destination. Haitham Mattar, managing director for India, Middle East, and Africa at IHG Hotels and Resorts, stated that Dubai has become a sought-after destination throughout the year, with demand in summer matching that of winter.

Mattar highlighted the success of joint marketing campaigns with Dubai tourism, which have attracted visitors from various source markets. He also mentioned the positive impact of events like Ramadan and Orthodox Easter on visitor travel, driving additional demand for hotels and restaurants in the city.

Johan Eidhagen, managing director of Wizz Air Abu Dhabi, noted that more than 40% of their customers are coming to Dubai, with many choosing to explore both Dubai and Abu Dhabi during their stay. He emphasized the importance of offering safe and attractive destinations to travelers, leading to an increase in staycations and shorter trips.

Overall, the tourism industry in the UAE is experiencing significant growth, with airlines like Wizz Air Abu Dhabi expecting double-digit growth for the year. With a mix of routes and a focus on regional airports, the UAE continues to attract visitors from around the world, making it a thriving year-round destination.
