The picturesque hill resort of Shimla is experiencing a surge in tourist arrivals as the weekend tourist inflow has started increasing. After the initial two phases of general elections, tourists from different parts of India are flocking to the hills, rejuvenating the tourism sector in Himachal Pradesh.

International tourists are also enchanted by the beauty of Shimla, with many expressing their fascination with the famous toy train. The recent UNESCO heritage status bestowed upon the toy train has further added to its allure, attracting visitors from around the globe.

Local tourism businesses are optimistic about the revival of their industry after facing setbacks due to the Covid-19 pandemic. With bookings on the rise and tourists showing keen interest in exploring the hill station, there is hope for a successful tourist season ahead.

One tourist from the UK, Dabra Yourston, shared his excitement about visiting Shimla, praising the beauty of the town and recommending it to others. Similarly, Lucy, another foreign tourist, expressed her admiration for the welcoming locals and the overall experience in Shimla.

Indian tourists are also making their way to the hills, seeking respite from the scorching summer temperatures in their cities. Anuradha, a tourist from Bengaluru, highlighted the pleasant weather in Shimla and the relaxing atmosphere compared to the hustle and bustle of the city.

The tourism sector in Himachal Pradesh plays a significant role in the state’s economy, generating over 11,000 crores annually. With the influx of tourists and the positive outlook for the upcoming season, businesses are hopeful for a successful and prosperous period ahead.
