JMU Football Makes Waves in Transfer Portal

JMU football has been making moves in the transfer portal this spring, with both additions and departures shaping the team’s roster for the upcoming season.

On the addition side, Ja’Kai Young, a talented defensive back from Gardner-Webb, joins the Dukes after an impressive season in which he earned First Team All-OVC honors. Young’s athleticism and size make him a valuable addition to the team, filling the void left by D’Angelo Ponds.

Another key addition is Christopher Fitzgerald, a defensive tackle from Youngstown State. Fitzgerald brings a wealth of experience and productivity to the team, with impressive stats over the last two seasons. His presence will help fill the gap left by Tyrique Tucker.

However, the team also saw several departures in the transfer portal. Standout players like Tyrique Tucker, Sammy Malignaggi, and Solomon Vanhorse are moving on to new opportunities, with Tucker heading to Indiana and Malignaggi and Vanhorse finding new homes at Campbell and Indiana, respectively.

Other players like Collin Carroll, Wesley Bostic, and Nakai Poole are also leaving the program in search of new opportunities. Despite the departures, the Dukes remain focused on building a strong roster for the upcoming season.

With a mix of new additions and departures, JMU football is gearing up for an exciting season ahead. Fans will be eager to see how the team’s roster changes impact their performance on the field.
