Rescuers in George, South Africa are working tirelessly to save dozens of people trapped in the rubble of a collapsed multi-storey building. The tragic incident has already claimed the lives of at least seven individuals, with 32 workers still unaccounted for.

Despite the grim situation, there have been glimmers of hope as rescue teams have managed to communicate with 11 survivors buried beneath the debris. Families anxiously await news of their loved ones, clinging to the possibility of their safe return.

Colin Deiner, chief of disaster management for the Western Cape province, remains optimistic, stating, “We treat everybody as still alive.” The rescue efforts have been intense, with workers using cranes, drills, and even their bare hands to reach those trapped.

President Cyril Ramaphosa has called for a thorough investigation into the collapse, as authorities have yet to determine the cause of the tragedy. Liatel Developments, the builder responsible for the structure, has pledged to assist in any way possible.

As the rescue operation continues, the community has come together to support those affected by the disaster. CCTV footage captured the harrowing moment when the building crumbled, sending a cloud of dust into the air.

The entire nation is holding its breath as the search for survivors continues, with hopes that more lives can be saved from the wreckage.
