Transforming a Handful of Tweets into a Multi-Million Pound Business

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Ryan Williams went from setting up a parody Twitter account for a laugh to becoming a multi-millionaire entrepreneur. The 35-year-old created Slow Sports News, a satire account that gained 50,000 followers, leading him to create another parody account called Deluded Brendan, which quickly amassed 300,000 fans.

Inspired by the success of companies like LadBible, Ryan teamed up with others in the industry to create It’s Gone Viral, a Facebook page focused on sharing viral content. The page exploded in popularity, now boasting 11.3 million followers on Facebook and 5.4 million on TikTok.

Ryan took a leap of faith in 2016, quitting his IT job to focus on his business full time. The company rebranded to the KOMI Group in 2020 and continued to grow rapidly, moving into an office space in Rochdale and hiring staff.

By 2018, the company was earning £400 per Facebook video, with the social media department alone bringing in £60k a month at its peak. The firm expanded into an Ancoats office in 2019 and employed 40 more staff by 2020.

Despite challenges during the pandemic, the company saw a £1 million turnover in 2021 and grew to 88 employees in 2022. Ryan eventually decided to step back from the company in 2022, cashing out with a multi seven-figure deal.

Now, Ryan focuses on helping young entrepreneurs through public speaking and mentoring. Reflecting on his journey, he says it took him a long time to appreciate his achievements but is now proud of what he has accomplished. Ryan’s story is a testament to the power of seizing opportunities and turning a passion into a successful business venture.
