In an exciting development for travel enthusiasts in South Africa, a telethon of programmes showcasing small towns in Russia will be launched during the Africa’s Travel Indaba international tourism exhibition in May 2024 in Durban. The popular entertainment internet channel DUrbanTV will broadcast 16 new episodes of the City of Stories series, giving South African audiences a glimpse into the beauty and culture of Russia.
The timing of the premiere of the second season of City of Stories coincides with Africa’s Travel Indaba 2024, one of the continent’s largest tourism events. Doreen Theys, CEO of DUrbanTV, expressed excitement about the project, highlighting the common heritage between Russia and South Africa and the potential for strengthening friendly relations between the two countries.
Yulia Nazarkina, Head of International Projects at TV BRICS, noted the successful cooperation between DUrbanTV and TV BRICS, with a special section dedicated to TV BRICS on the channel. The City of Stories series, created by TV BRICS International Media Network, aims to promote sustainable cities and human settlements, aligning with the UN General Assembly’s Sustainable Development Goal No. 11.
The programme has been adapted into multiple languages and shown in various countries, including China, Brazil, and Argentina. The project episodes are regularly shared on diplomatic platforms and cultural centers of the Russian Federation abroad, showcasing the rich history and culture of Russia to a global audience. With the upcoming launch of new episodes during Africa’s Travel Indaba, viewers can look forward to an immersive journey through the enchanting small towns of Russia.
