Travel to Lakshadweep Made Fast and Easy with High Speed Ferry

The Western Ghats region is set to receive a boost in tourism with the introduction of a ferry service to the least visited location in India, Lakshadweep. Comprising of 36 islands spread over 32 square kilometers, Lakshadweep offers a perfect blend of outdoor adventures, peaceful vacation spots, and cultural experiences.

Visitors to Lakshadweep can enjoy water activities such as diving and snorkeling, while also immersing themselves in the unique Arab and Indian cultural influences found in the art, architecture, and cuisine of the archipelago. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has even taken to social media to promote the destination, drawing more travelers to its calm beaches and azure waters.

The Ministry of Tourism’s Lakshadweep Islands Tourism Development Authority is gearing up to launch Mangaluru-to-Lakshadweep tourist liners after successful trial runs. The introduction of the high-speed ferry service, named “Parali,” will significantly reduce travel time between the two destinations. During a recent trial, a group of 16 individuals made the journey from Lakshadweep to Mangaluru in less than seven hours, compared to the previous thirteen-hour journey.

With upgraded amenities at Kadmat Island’s receiving point and efforts to navigate the challenges of the monsoon season, the tourism industry in Lakshadweep is poised for growth. The new ferry service is expected to attract more visitors seeking a peaceful getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life, further enhancing eco-tourism, educational tourism, health tourism, and leisure tourism in the region.
