Travis Air Force Base in California recently hosted a Comprehensive Airman Fitness Week and Sports Day, aimed at promoting health and wellness among Airmen and their families. The event, which took place from May 20-23, 2024, featured a variety of activities focused on the four pillars of Comprehensive Airman Fitness: Social, Spiritual, Mental, and Sports Day.
Throughout the week, Airmen at Travis AFB participated in workshops and sessions designed to enhance their overall well-being. From social wellness and alcohol awareness to spiritual well-being and mental wellness, the event provided valuable information and resources to help Airmen improve their fitness in all areas of their lives.
Brig. Gen. Derek Salmi, the commander of the 60th Air Mobility Wing, emphasized the importance of investing in oneself and becoming the best version possible. He encouraged Airmen to take advantage of the tools and resources available to them to enhance their skills and overall fitness.
The highlight of the week was the Sports Day competition with Beale AFB, where Airmen from both bases came together to compete in various events. Travis AFB emerged victorious, winning the trophy with a score of 92-78. The day was filled with camaraderie and friendly competition, showcasing the strong bond between the two bases.
