Triangle Tech, a technical school with six locations across Pennsylvania, has announced its closure after 80 years of operation. The decision was made due to the impact of the pandemic, changes in the industry landscape, and government regulations, as well as declining enrollments.
Despite the closure, Triangle Tech will honor all educational commitments to current students, allowing them to graduate with an associate in specialized technology through June 2025. Currently, 261 students are enrolled in the school, with only around 20 of the 110 staff members immediately impacted by the closure.
In response to the closure, The Worksmith Institute, a local education non-profit, has awarded each student a $1,500 tuition scholarship to assist them in completing their education. Triangle Tech’s president emeritus, Timothy McMahon, expressed optimism about successfully delivering for current students and ensuring a smooth and successful closeout.
Prior to the closure, Triangle Tech offered associate degrees in technical education fields and had locations in Pittsburgh, Greensburg, DuBois, Sunbury, Bethlehem, and Chambersburg. The school’s legacy of providing a pathway to good jobs for its students will be remembered as it closes its doors after eight decades of operation.
