The Southwestern Trojans continued their impressive start to the season with a dominant 13-1 win over Chautauqua Lake on Monday. The highlight of the game came in the bottom of the fifth inning when senior Chase Kartesz hit a walk-off, three-run home run to seal the victory for the Trojans.

Southwestern’s power surge was on full display as seniors Peter Conley and Jameson Walsh also contributed with home runs earlier in the game. Head coach Jared Brown praised his team’s hitting performance, noting that multiple players have shown the ability to hit the ball hard this season.

The Trojans’ offensive firepower was complemented by a strong pitching performance from junior Brody Ellis, who allowed just one unearned run while striking out eight batters.

Despite the lopsided score, Chautauqua Lake showed resilience by fighting back and scoring a run in the top of the fifth inning. Head coach Matt Cummings commended his team’s effort and determination to keep competing until the final out.

Overall, it was a complete team effort from Southwestern, with multiple players contributing to the win. The Trojans improved their record to 4-0 and will look to continue their success in upcoming games. Chautauqua Lake, on the other hand, will aim to bounce back in their next game against Maple Grove.

The game showcased the talent and determination of both teams, setting the stage for an exciting season ahead in high school baseball.
