Trump declares intention to defeat Biden in New York as he shifts into campaign mode amidst impending criminal trial

Former President Donald Trump made a surprise campaign stop in New York City, vowing to beat President Joe Biden in the 2024 election. Trump visited a construction site in Manhattan early on Thursday morning, where he expressed his confidence in winning the state of New York.

“We’re going to make a play for New York,” Trump told reporters at the event. “Biden is the worst president in history, and we have some very bad people here, but we have the greatest people and they’re right behind me, and they all want us to run and we’re going to run very hard in New York.”

During his visit, Trump met with a group of union and construction workers, shaking hands, posing for photographs, and signing autographs. Supporters gathered at the site, chanting “USA!” as they showed their support for the former president.

The campaign stop came on the same day as Trump’s hush money trial, where he faces 34 felony counts of falsifying business records in connection to payments made to adult film star Stormy Daniels. Trump denies the allegations and is also facing a trial for allegedly violating a gag order by posting about witnesses and jurors on social media.

In addition to his legal battles, Trump is also awaiting a ruling from the US Supreme Court on his “presidential immunity” defense, which argues that he should be protected from prosecution for actions taken while in office. Despite his legal challenges, Trump remains determined to run for president again in 2024 and is actively campaigning to win over voters in key states like New York.
