Former President Donald Trump spoke at a private donor event in Florida and made some controversial statements regarding his legal troubles and the Biden Administration. Trump, who is facing multiple criminal indictments, told attendees at Mar-a-Lago that he wasn’t too bothered about his legal issues, saying, “If you care too much, you tend to choke. And in a way, I don’t care. It’s just, you know, life is life.”
Despite his nonchalant attitude, Trump admitted to being shocked when he first found out about his indictments, saying, “Once I got indicted, I said, Holy shit. I just got indicted. Me. I got indicted.” Last month, Trump made his first court appearance for one of his four criminal cases, facing charges related to falsifying business records.
During the event, Trump also criticized the Biden Administration, comparing them to the Gestapo, the Nazi secret police force. He accused Democrats of running a “Gestapo administration” and called President Biden “the worst president in the history of our country.”
The luncheon was part of the Republican National Committee’s spring retreat in Florida, where hundreds of people gathered to support the party. Trump also mentioned several potential vice president candidates, including Tim Scott, Elise Stefanik, Doug Burgum, JD Vance, Marco Rubio, and Byron Donalds.
The event drew significant attention and raised substantial funds for the RNC. Business Insider has reached out to Donald Trump’s team for comment on his statements at the event.
