Trump has been promoting potential VP candidates for months, but he may ultimately choose someone unexpected.

Reading Time: < 1 minute

In the race for Donald Trump’s running mate, speculation is running high as familiar names dominate the conversation. Trump’s penchant for the dramatic has many wondering if he will surprise everyone with an unexpected choice. While names like Ben Carson, Marco Rubio, J.D. Vance, and Elise Stefanik have been frequently mentioned, Trump’s openness to feedback has led to a growing list of potential contenders.

One name that has recently emerged is Florida Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar, a former television journalist who has shown fierce loyalty to Trump. Despite her relative inexperience, Salazar’s defense of Trump during his trial in New York has caught the former president’s attention. Additionally, there is a growing push within Trump’s orbit to consider a Hispanic running mate, with Rubio and Salazar being top contenders.

Other names under consideration include Sen. Tom Cotton, who brings both Washington experience and a military background to the table. Cotton’s unexpected emergence as a contender has surprised many, but Trump is still far from making a final decision. Former Democratic presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard and Tennessee Sen. Bill Hagerty have also been floated as potential picks.

With the Republican National Convention approaching in July, the anticipation surrounding Trump’s running mate selection continues to build. While Trump’s affinity for certain names may not guarantee their selection, the possibility of a dark horse candidate emerging remains high. As the speculation continues to grow, the final decision rests in Trump’s hands as he navigates the complex landscape of choosing a running mate.
