Trump Urges Supporters to Increase Protests Outside Trial: ‘Stand with MAGA’

Former President Donald J. Trump was met with disappointment as he arrived at the courthouse in Lower Manhattan for the beginning of his first criminal trial. Expecting a large crowd of supporters protesting on his behalf, Trump was instead greeted by a small group of loyalists across the street at Collect Pond Park.

Despite Trump’s calls for “America Loving Protesters” to rally behind him and save the country, the scene outside the courthouse remained relatively quiet and well-patrolled. Trump’s frustration with the lack of protest activity led him to take to social media to express his grievances, accusing the district attorney and President Biden of preventing supporters from being present.

Throughout the morning, Trump continued to lament the poor turnout, comparing the courthouse to an “armed camp” and insinuating that MAGA protesters were being discriminated against. Despite his efforts to drum up support and media coverage for his trial, the demonstrations remained sparse and disorganized.

One of Trump’s most dedicated supporters, Laura Loomer, criticized fellow Trump supporters for being “lazy” and failing to show up for the former president. Loomer, who had protested outside the courthouse every day last week, emphasized the importance of supporting Trump and making America great again.

As the trial proceedings continued, Trump’s attempts to incite a larger protest outside the courthouse seemed to fall flat, with only a handful of supporters showing up to demonstrate their allegiance to the former president. The lackluster turnout highlighted the challenges Trump faces in mobilizing his base as he navigates the legal challenges ahead.
