Tulsans were recently awarded a total of $50,000 in prize money for their entrepreneurial ideas as part of the second Tulsa Idea Challenge. The workshop and competition, held at the University of Tulsa, aimed to foster innovation in the city and saw over 200 participants learning how to collaborate and turn their ideas into action.

Participants were randomly paired and worked together as teams over two days to identify a problem, break it down, and create an actionable plan. Among the winning teams, the Grand Prize of $25,000 went to Impact Echo by Mason Harmon and Chalon Jones, a platform that combines voicemail and AI to streamline donor retention.

Other winning ideas included Sugar Cane Shields, an eco-conscious disposal system for excess hair dye, and a resource directory for individuals with autism. The competition also recognized ideas in AI, health and wellness, social impact, and consumer products.

The Tulsa Idea Challenge, presented by 36 Degrees North, Builders + Backers, and Tulsa Remote, took place on May 4-5. The event aimed to support local entrepreneurs and encourage creativity in the community. More information about the challenge can be found on the official website at tulsaideachallenge.com.
