Reading Time: < 1 minute

TVS Motor Company has made a significant move in the electric scooter market by introducing an affordable variant of its popular iQube model. With prices starting from ₹94,999, the entry-level trim comes with a 2.2-kilowatt-hour battery and offers a top speed of 75 kmph. The company claims that this cheapest EV offers 75 kilometers of real-world range on a full charge.

In addition to the entry-level variant, TVS also unveiled a top variant with a 5.1 kWh battery and 150 km range, priced at ₹1.85 lakh. This move comes as TVS Motor aims to capture a larger share of the electric two-wheeler market in India, where it recently climbed to the position of the second-largest electric two-wheeler manufacturer.

TVS Motor’s managing director, Sudarshan Venu, shared insights on the company’s strategy for the EV market, emphasizing the importance of catering to different customer needs with multiple price points and range options. Venu also expressed confidence in the growth potential of electric vehicles, projecting that they will contribute 20-25% of the company’s total volumes in the next three years.

Furthermore, TVS Motor is expanding its presence in Western markets like Europe and the U.K., with a focus on premium products and new categories such as e-bikes. The company’s acquisition of Norton and partnership with BMW Motorrad demonstrate its commitment to innovation and growth in the global market.

Overall, TVS Motor’s latest developments underscore its ambition to lead the way in the electric vehicle industry and establish a strong foothold in both domestic and international markets.
