Two Empire Restaurants for Sale, Plus Other Leelanau Business Updates

Reading Time: < 1 minute

This weekend in northern Michigan, Leelanau businesses are making big moves as the unofficial kickoff to the summer season begins. From two Empire restaurants hitting the market to a new boat charter business, there are exciting developments happening in the county.

First up, two beloved Empire restaurants, Joe’s Friendly Tavern and the Empire Village Inn, have been put up for sale as a package deal for $2,995,000. Both establishments have a long history in the area, with Joe’s Friendly Tavern opening in 1940 and the Village Inn in 1959. Despite the listing, both restaurants are operating as usual heading into the summer season.

In addition to the restaurant news, a new charter boat business called H2GO Charters is launching in Leelanau. Owned by local resident Jeff Dungan, the business will offer a variety of boat tours on Lake Leelanau and other local water bodies. With a focus on providing a hassle-free boating experience, Dungan aims to cater to groups looking to explore the area without the stress of piloting their own boat.

Meanwhile, in Omena, a new art gallery called V Gallery is opening in the former Tamarack Gallery space. Husband-and-wife team Matt and Hillary Voight are behind the new venture, which will feature a variety of artists and their work. The gallery will have its grand opening this weekend, showcasing the talents of local and regional artists.

Lastly, Leland welcomes a new boutique called Goodness on Main, offering a wide range of products including clothing, skincare, and accessories. Owned by Ashley Suttman, a local teacher and graduate of Leland Public School, the boutique aims to support local artisans and makers by stocking their products.

Overall, it’s an exciting time for businesses in Leelanau as they gear up for the summer season and welcome new ventures to the area.
