Kidnappers struck again in Ejiba community, Yagba west local government of Kogi state, as they abducted two individuals in a daring raid on Wednesday night. This incident marks the second attack within two weeks, leaving locals in fear and shock.

Reports indicate that a group of about 10 gunmen, dressed in black attire, stormed the central market in Ejiba around 9pm, firing shots indiscriminately. In the chaos that ensued, two prominent marketers, including a woman known as Bukky, were taken captive by the hoodlums.

Eyewitnesses described the harrowing scene, with the attackers strategically surrounding the market and targeting specific individuals. One resident, Daramola, recounted how Bukky tried to escape but was apprehended, while another male customer was also seized.

This recent abduction comes on the heels of a previous incident where gunmen targeted a businessman’s home, resulting in the death of one victim and injuries to another. The escalating violence has prompted concerns among residents, with calls for increased security measures in the area.

While the state authorities have assured that efforts are being made to address the security challenges, the silence of the state police command’s spokesperson, SP Williams Aya, has raised questions about the effectiveness of law enforcement in combating such crimes. The community remains on edge as they await updates on the fate of the abducted individuals and the overall security situation in Ejiba.
