Two Raiders from the college softball team receive conference honors – Brainerd Dispatch

Kaitlyn Geschwill and Emma Simon of the Central Lakes College Raiders received prestigious honors from the Minnesota College Athletic Conference on Monday, April 15. Geschwill, a talented right-handed pitcher from Pequot Lakes High School, was named the North Division Pitcher of the Week after an impressive performance. She achieved a 2-0 record, pitching seven innings without allowing any runs, hits, or walks. With 16 strikeouts under her belt, she also hit her first collegiate grand slam against Hibbing. Currently leading the MCAC North with a 1.78 ERA and 93 strikeouts, Geschwill is proving to be a force to be reckoned with on the field.

On the other hand, Emma Simon, a freshman infielder from Annandale, showcased her skills by going 6-of-7 with two doubles, one home run, nine RBIs, and seven runs scored. Her outstanding performance earned her the North Division Position Player of the Week title. Simon’s highlight moment came when she hit her first career grand slam against Vermilion, contributing to CLC’s overall record of 15-11 and an impressive 8-0 division standing. The Raiders are currently on a 12-game winning streak, showcasing their dominance in the league.

Fans can catch the Central Lakes College Raiders in action on Wednesday, April 17, at 3 p.m. as they face off against Northland Community and Technical College. With Geschwill and Simon leading the charge, the Raiders are sure to put on an exciting display of talent and determination on the field.
