The San Bernardino County Spelling Bee recently concluded with a display of exceptional linguistic talent from students across the region. Hosted by the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools (SBCSS) at San Bernardino Valley College, the competition showcased the best spellers from various school districts and charter schools.
The champions of this year’s competition, Shrey Parikh and Srikanth Satheesh Kumar from Etiwanda School District, demonstrated remarkable skill and composure throughout the event. Parikh, a sixth-grade student, clinched victory by correctly spelling “rarefaction,” while Satheesh Kumar, an eighth-grader, was named co-champion after acing the word “recrudescent.”
County Superintendent Ted Alejandre praised the students for their dedication and talent, emphasizing the significance of their hard work and determination in such a prestigious competition. The champions will now move on to represent San Bernardino County at the national level during the Scripps National Spelling Bee in May.
The event not only celebrates academic achievement but also promotes camaraderie and sportsmanship among participants. The top five champions of the 2024 Spelling Bee include students from various schools, highlighting the diversity and talent present in the county.
Parikh and Satheesh Kumar expressed gratitude for the opportunity to participate in the competition, thanking their families, teachers, and organizers for their support. The success of these students reflects the commitment to excellence in education within San Bernardino County.
