U.S. News & World Report includes 33 CT senior living communities on its list

The highly anticipated 2024 “Best Senior Living” ratings were recently released by a prominent media organization, showcasing the top senior living communities across the country. With over 3,500 senior living communities surveyed, 1,703 were selected as the best in categories such as independent living, assisted living, and memory care.

In order to be considered for the prestigious list, members of a senior living community had to participate in a consumer satisfaction survey in 2023 and receive more than five responses. The criteria for selection varied depending on the category, with a focus on resident and family feedback on safety, food and care quality, transportation, and community management.

Connecticut facilities shone in multiple categories, with Edgehill in Stamford, Charter Senior Living of Orange, and Essex Meadows among those recognized. Solstice Senior Living in Guilford and Pomperaug Woods in Southbury were highlighted as top independent living communities, offering support and amenities for seniors looking to downsize and enjoy a maintenance-free lifestyle.

The best assisted living facilities in Connecticut included Atria Darien, Benchmark Senior Living at Split Rock, and The Village of East Farms, providing essential support for older adults who need assistance with daily activities. In the memory care category, facilities such as Brookdale Chatfield and Waterstone on High Ridge were acknowledged for their specialized care for seniors with memory loss.

As the media organization looks ahead to future ratings, they anticipate more facilities will participate in consumer satisfaction surveys, expanding the pool of eligible candidates and raising the bar for excellence in senior living communities.
