UAE Extends Online Classes by 2 Days

The Dubai government has extended remote learning for private schools through Thursday and Friday, April 18 and 19, in response to the recent weather conditions. This decision follows the Emirates School Education Foundation’s directive for all government schools across the country to also continue with distance learning.

The aim of this measure is to ensure the safety and security of all government schools and their surrounding areas before resuming regular, in-person classes for students and teaching staff. The decision was made due to the unstable weather conditions that have affected the region, with heavy rain causing disruptions in daily life.

In addition to Dubai, Sharjah has also extended distance learning for private schools in the emirate. Students will continue to study remotely on Thursday, April 18, to guarantee their safety, as stated by local government authorities.

The recent heavy rain in the UAE, described as the heaviest in 75 years, has led to a halt in normal activities, including school operations. Authorities in other emirates are yet to decide on the extension of online classes, but the focus remains on ensuring the well-being of students and staff during this challenging period.
