UAE firmly rejects unfounded accusations made by Sudan’s Permanent Representative in letter to UNSC – Global

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has vehemently denied the false allegations made by the Permanent Representative of Sudan, calling them baseless and aimed at deflecting responsibility in the midst of a humanitarian crisis. Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, emphasized the UAE’s commitment to engaging with all stakeholders to support a political process in Sudan.

In a letter to the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), Mohamed Abushahab, UAE Ambassador to the UN, refuted the claims made by Sudan’s representative, stating that they lack credible evidence and are an attempt to divert attention from the conflict and dire humanitarian situation in Sudan. The UAE reiterated its belief that there can be no military solution to the conflict and expressed concern over the continued hostilities that have caused suffering to the Sudanese people.

The UAE reaffirmed its respect for international law and sovereignty of other states, pledging to cooperate with the UNSC and support efforts for a peaceful resolution in Sudan. The country has actively engaged with stakeholders, participated in peace talks, and pledged $100 million for humanitarian efforts in Sudan and neighboring countries.

The UAE stressed the importance of dialogue and genuine commitment from all parties involved in the conflict to achieve lasting peace and stability in Sudan. The country remains dedicated to supporting peace initiatives and cooperating with stakeholders towards a peaceful resolution.
