UAE Leads MENA Region and Jumps Seven Spots Worldwide in WEF’s Tourism & Travel Development Index 2024

The UAE has once again proven its dominance in the global tourism landscape, as it has been ranked first in the region and 18th globally in the World Economic Forum’s Travel & Tourism Development Index (TTDI) 2024. This marks a significant climb of seven places from its 25th global ranking in 2019.

H.E. Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Chairman of the Emirates Tourism Council, highlighted the UAE’s exceptional performance in the tourism sector, attributing it to the country’s forward-looking vision and leadership. He emphasized that the UAE continues to excel regionally and internationally, achieving outstanding results that reflect its leading position in the global tourism and travel industry.

The UAE’s tourism sector is expected to witness further growth in 2024, supported by innovative projects and initiatives that are being implemented across the country. With a focus on enhancing the tourism infrastructure and services, the UAE aims to solidify its position as the best tourist destination in the world by 2031.

H.E. Hanan Ahli, Managing Director of the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Centre (FCSC), praised the UAE’s success in strengthening its position as a top travel destination. She highlighted the country’s effective strategy in enhancing economic diversification and creating a safe and attractive environment for tourists.

The UAE’s remarkable performance in various indicators of the TTDI reflects its commitment to sustainable development and resilience in the travel and tourism sector. With continuous efforts to enhance the sector’s contribution to the national GDP, the UAE is poised to maintain its competitiveness and attractiveness as a global tourism hub.
