UAE Summer Begins with Temperatures Expected to Reach 40°C – News

Reading Time: 2 minutes

The UAE is gearing up for more heavy rains in the coming days following the historic rainfall event on April 16. However, amidst the rainy season, the Arab world has entered a new season known as Kanat Al Thuraya, marking a significant shift in weather patterns with temperatures soaring above the 40°C mark.

On the first day of Kanat Al Thuraya, the UAE recorded a high of nearly 40°C, signaling the transition from spring to peak summer heat. This season is expected to last until June 7, bringing dry air and decreased humidity levels to the region.

Ibrahim Al Jarwan, Chairman of the Emirates Astronomical Association, emphasized the importance of this season for the Arabian Peninsula, as it signifies the dominance of the summer climate system. The season commences when the Al Thuraya star cluster disappears and concludes when it reappears in the dawn sky in the first week of June.

In the UAE, summer officially begins in June after the summer solstice, when the sun’s rays are directly over the Tropic of Cancer, resulting in the longest day of the year. The end of peak summer heat is marked by the rising of the Suhail star, typically occurring after about two months.

Despite the onset of Kanat Al Thuraya, the UAE experienced its highest rainfall on record on April 16, receiving a year’s worth of rain in a single day. The National Centre of Meteorology has forecasted more heavy rains for the upcoming week, cautioning about unstable weather conditions on May 2.

As the country braces for the impact of the rainy season and transitions into the scorching summer heat, residents are advised to stay informed and prepared for any weather-related developments. Stay tuned for the latest updates and follow KT on WhatsApp Channels for real-time news alerts.

The UAE’s diverse climate patterns continue to showcase the country’s resilience in adapting to changing weather conditions, from heavy rainfall to soaring temperatures. As Kanat Al Thuraya unfolds, residents are reminded to stay vigilant and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety during this transition period.
