UAE’s National Emergency and Crisis Management Authority Increases Readiness for Weather Conditions

Reading Time: 2 minutes

The National Emergency, Crisis, and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) has taken proactive measures to ensure the country is prepared to deal with the current weather conditions. With the Joint Assessment Team for Weather and Tropical Cases leading the way, NCEMA, along with the Ministry of Interior and the National Center of Meteorology, has emphasized the importance of activating business continuity plans and closely monitoring the weather’s impact on the country.

In response to the expected weather conditions, the Ministry of Interior has recommended the activation of remote learning for all educational institutions on Thursday and Friday. This decision will be made in coordination with federal and local authorities, as well as the Ministry of Education and the Emirates Schools Establishment, based on the evolving situation.

Additionally, remote work systems will be activated for both governmental institutions and the private sector on Thursday and Friday, with exceptions for vital positions that require physical presence or are involved in response and recovery efforts. Again, decisions will be made by relevant authorities at both the federal and local levels.

To ensure public safety, the Ministry of Interior, in collaboration with the Emergency and Crisis Authority, has decided to close roads leading to valley areas, water gathering points, and dams during the period of the weather condition. The public is urged to stay away from these areas and follow the instructions of specialized field teams. It is also advised to avoid visiting mountainous, desert, and sea areas at this time to prevent any potential risks.

The National Center of Meteorology has forecasted moderate to heavy rainfall in scattered areas starting from Wednesday night and continuing into Thursday, with the possibility of lightning, thunderstorms, and small-sized hailstones. As we move into Friday and Saturday, cloud quantities are expected to decrease, but there remains a chance of light to moderate rain, which may be heavy in some southern and eastern areas.

It is crucial for the public to stay informed by obtaining accurate information from official sources in the country and to avoid spreading rumors or misinformation. By following the guidelines and recommendations set forth by NCEMA, the Ministry of Interior, and other relevant authorities, individuals can help ensure their safety and the effectiveness of response and recovery efforts during this weather event.

Stay tuned for updates on the evolving weather conditions and continue to follow Emirates 24|7 for the latest news and information.
