UD Graduate Programs Earn Top Rankings in National Report, Physical Therapy Ranked Second

The University of Delaware (UD) is celebrating a major achievement as several of its graduate programs have been ranked among the best in the nation by the U.S. News and World Report.

UD’s graduate programs in nonprofit management, public management and leadership, computer science, and nursing have all seen significant improvements in their rankings compared to last year. The physical therapy program, in particular, has maintained its status as a top program, coming in second only to Washington University’s program in St. Louis for 2025.

Dean of the Graduate College and Vice Provost for Graduate and Professional Education, Lou Rossi, praised the unique nature of the physical therapy program, highlighting the combination of clinical practice, laboratory experiences, and classroom learning that sets it apart.

UD’s chemical engineering program also received recognition, ranking seventh out of 130 schools surveyed. Additionally, this year marked the first time that U.S. News and World Report ranked speech-language pathology programs, with UD’s program securing the 32nd spot out of 280 schools. Rossi commended the program’s clinical placements, which enhance educational opportunities for students.

Rossi credited the success of UD’s graduate programs to innovation and announced the addition of a post-baccalaureate program for students without experience in communication science. He expressed excitement for the continued growth and success of UD’s graduate programs in the future.
