UEFA EURO 2024: Everything You Need to Know

Germany has been chosen to host EURO 2024, marking the return of the UEFA European Championship to the country since reunification. The decision was made at a UEFA Executive Committee meeting in Nyon on 27 September 2018, with Türkiye being the only other nation to bid for the tournament. The final tournament is scheduled to take place from 14 June to 14 July 2024, with the group stage running until 26 June and the knockout stage starting on 29 June.

As the host nation, Germany will be seeded in Group A and will play the opening match against Scotland at the Munich Football Arena on 14 June. The tournament will feature 24 teams in total, with the top two from each group advancing to the round of 16 along with the four best third-placed finishers.

The final of EURO 2024 will be held at Berlin’s Olympiastadion on 14 July 2024. The tournament will feature ten host cities, including Berlin, Cologne, Dortmund, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Gelsenkirchen, Hamburg, Leipzig, Munich, and Stuttgart. Each city will have dedicated fan zones for supporters to enjoy the games and soak up the atmosphere.

In addition to the on-field action, EURO 2024 will also feature sustainability measures to address social and environmental concerns. The official match ball, FUSSBALLLIEBE, was unveiled in November 2023, and the tournament mascot, Albärt, was introduced to fans in Gelsenkirchen in June 2023.
