UKGF Successfully Completes Round of GolfBIC Roadshows

The UK Golf Federation’s GolfBIC Roadshows concluded with a bang at the GolfIt! Centre in Glasgow, where industry leaders gathered to discuss sustainable practices in the golf industry. The series of three events spanned from London to Cambridgeshire and finally to Scotland, focusing on ways golf courses can operate in a more environmentally friendly manner.

Presentations by experts like Daniel Lightfoot and Professor Robbie Fitzpatrick provided valuable insights into reducing environmental impact. Seven leading golf industry companies shared their strategies for sustainability, including Carr Golf and Pure Hydration, showcasing how one-use plastics can be eliminated from golf course waste.

Gareth Macklin of Obbi Golf emphasized the importance of safety in sustainability, while Ian Blunt of inrange discussed how driving ranges can become more valuable and entertainment-focused. Doug Poole, CEO of the UK Golf Federation, praised the inclusion of sustainability topics in the Roadshows, reaching over 1,200 members.

Andrew Agnoli of Hounslow Golf Park highlighted the role of golf facilities in promoting environmental awareness within the community. Marc Newey of Roehampton Club reflected on the informative nature of the Roadshows, noting the need for improvement to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030.

Overall, the GolfBIC Roadshows provided a platform for industry leaders to come together and discuss the importance of sustainability in the golf industry, paving the way for a more environmentally conscious future.
