Ukraine Launches Major Attack on Russian Naval Base in Crimea

In a bold move, Ukraine has launched a major attack on a Russian naval base in occupied Crimea. The attack, which occurred at 1 am on Thursday, targeted the area near the Kerch Bridge with precision-guided missiles. A Ukrainian military source revealed to Sky News that a Russian Mangust patrol boat was destroyed in the attack, using Western-supplied weapons that proved highly effective despite the presence of Russian Air Defence Systems.

Nikolai Lukashenko, Crimea’s Russian-installed transportation chief, reported on Telegram that two transport ferries were damaged in the overnight assault. The Kerch Bridge, a crucial link between Russia and Crimea over the Kerch Strait, serves as a logistics hub for Moscow to resupply its forces in the region. The bridge was constructed in 2018 following Russia’s annexation of Crimea in 2014.

This latest attack is part of Ukraine’s ongoing efforts to disrupt Russian operations in the region. Despite lacking a traditional navy, Ukraine has utilized sea drones and missiles to target Russian vessels in the Black Sea. Ukrainian forces claim to have sunk a third of Russia’s warships in just over two years of conflict, significantly impacting Moscow’s naval capabilities.

Ukrainian navy spokesperson Dmytro Pletenchuk emphasized the goal of eliminating Russian military presence in the Azov and Black Sea regions. The conflict between Ukraine and Russia continues to escalate, with both sides engaging in strategic maneuvers to gain the upper hand. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing situation.
