In the midst of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, Ukrainian prosecutors have launched an investigation into attacks on civilians in the northeastern region of Kharkiv. President Volodymyr Zelenskiy reported that Ukrainian troops have made significant progress in fighting against a fresh Russian assault in the area.
Zelenskiy expressed confidence in the Ukrainian forces, particularly in the Kharkiv region, where battles have been raging. Despite Russia’s claims of capturing the village of Starytsia in the Kharkiv region, Zelenskiy emphasized that the occupier is facing losses in terms of infantry and equipment.
In another key target area, the eastern Donetsk region, Ukrainian forces successfully repelled a Russian assault in the city of Chasiv Yar. Zelenskiy highlighted the destruction of over 20 units of the occupier’s armored vehicles by Ukrainian soldiers.
However, the conflict has taken a toll on civilians, with reports of airstrikes and shelling causing casualties in various cities. Ukrainian prosecutors are investigating incidents in Kharkiv, Vovchansk, and other regions where civilians have been injured or killed.
Despite Moscow’s denial of deliberately targeting civilians, the toll on innocent lives continues to rise since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. The situation remains tense as both sides engage in fierce battles, with the fate of civilians hanging in the balance.
As the conflict unfolds, the world watches with bated breath, hoping for a swift resolution to end the suffering of innocent civilians caught in the crossfire.
