The UL baseball program is on a winning streak, checking off boxes left and right as they head into the final stretch of the regular season. Over the weekend, the Ragin’ Cajuns swept Georgia Southern on the road, securing the No. 1 seed in the Sun Belt Conference tournament. This impressive feat marked the first time the Eagles had been swept in a home conference series since 2016.

UL coach Matt Deggs expressed his team’s unwavering vision and mission, emphasizing their goal to secure the outright Sun Belt title with just one win or one Southern Miss loss. The Cajuns are also on the cusp of reaching 40 wins in the regular season, needing just one more victory in their upcoming series against South Alabama.

Players like Carson Fluno, Bryan Broussard, Ben Robichaux, and Clay Wargo have been instrumental in the team’s success, with standout performances on the field. Broussard, in particular, has shown dynamic offensive prowess, impressing Deggs with his speed, strength, and versatility.

As the season progresses, the coaching staff faces the task of narrowing down the roster to 27 players for the postseason. Several players have already been removed from the roster, making room for a more streamlined lineup. The team’s culture of hard work and camaraderie was highlighted when star pitchers Chase Morgan and LP Langevin were revealed to have been sharing a locker all season, a testament to their humility and team spirit.

With their eyes set on even greater achievements, the UL baseball program continues to push forward, determined to check off more boxes and make their mark in the upcoming tournaments.
