Christine Adshead to Replace Jim McCarthy as Non-Executive Chair of Ultimate Products

The Board of Oldham-headquartered Ultimate Products, the owner of popular homeware brands like Salter and Beldray, has announced a change in leadership. James McCarthy, the current Non-Executive Chair, will be stepping down on July 31 this year. In his place, Christine Adshead, an Independent Non-Executive Director of Ultimate Products since September 2020, will take over the role.

Jim McCarthy has been instrumental in guiding Ultimate Products through its first seven years as a listed company. With his extensive experience in the retail industry, having previously served as CEO of Poundland Group plc and in other senior roles, Jim has been a valuable asset to the company.

Christine Adshead brings her own wealth of experience to the role, having spent nearly 20 years at PwC providing transaction advisory services across various sectors, including retail and consumer goods. She has also served as a Non-Executive Director and Board Member of Hill Dickinson LLP.

Both Jim and Christine have expressed their confidence in the transition. Jim praised Christine’s understanding of the company’s culture, strategy, and people, while Christine expressed her excitement to continue the excellent work done by Jim and lead Ultimate Products through its ambitious growth strategy.

The upcoming change in leadership comes at a pivotal time for Ultimate Products as they strive to become the world’s best branded consumer goods business. The company’s newly-appointed CEO, Andrew Gossage, will work closely with Christine to drive the company’s next stage of growth.
