Reading Time: < 1 minute

A group of 466 tourists, including 77-year-old Wang Yulin, embarked on a 13-day train journey aboard the giant panda-themed tourist train “Shifang” at Liupanshui Railway Station in Guizhou province. The unique train, operated by China Railway Chengdu Group, took the passengers on a sightseeing adventure to cities like Jiaozuo, Luoyang, Qingdao, Weihai, and Yantai.

The train, equipped with compartments for dining and entertainment, provided a comfortable and relaxed experience for the passengers, most of whom were seniors. The journey included visits to famous attractions such as Mount Tai, Penglai Pavilion, the Longmen Grottoes, and the Yuntai Mountain UNESCO Global Geopark.

With 36 staff members on board, including conductors, train attendants, team leaders, a steward, and doctors, the safety and comfort of the passengers were ensured throughout the trip. The chartered train also offered passengers a taste of Sichuan cuisine, local delicacies, afternoon tea, and cocktail parties.

In addition to exploring domestic destinations, the passengers also had an international experience by boarding a boat from Weihai, Shandong, to Incheon, South Korea. There, they visited popular attractions and participated in a Chinese and Korean cultural exchange gala.

The China Railway Chengdu Group plans to expand its tourist train services to popular destinations with high demand. By leveraging its unique tourism resources along the Southwest Railway line, the group aims to meet the diverse needs of passengers and contribute to the development and promotion of cultural and tourism resources. Tourist trains have provided a new mode of travel for those looking to explore beautiful landscapes both domestically and internationally.
