The University of Florida has been recognized by Forbes as one of the top 10 public “New Ivies,” solidifying its reputation for producing exceptional and highly employable graduates. UF President Ben Sasse expressed pride in the university’s commitment to excellence and practicality, emphasizing the importance of preparing students for both intellectual pursuits and real-world challenges.

Forbes’ list of “New Ivies” highlights institutions that are producing smart, driven graduates who are in high demand by employers. The recognition comes at a time when hiring managers are increasingly looking beyond traditional Ivy League schools and turning to public universities for top talent. According to Forbes, 42% of hiring managers are more likely to hire graduates from public universities now compared to five years ago.

UF Provost Scott Angle echoed this sentiment, stating that UF graduates possess the qualities that employers are seeking. The university’s high standards for admissions and selectivity have contributed to its reputation as a top-tier institution for producing successful graduates.

Forbes’ methodology for selecting the “New Ivies” involved screening over 1,700 colleges based on standardized test scores and admission rates. The list includes other prestigious public universities such as the University of Michigan, University of Virginia, and University of Texas.

Overall, the recognition from Forbes solidifies the University of Florida’s position as a leader in higher education, providing students with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in today’s competitive job market.
