Unlocking Africa’s Gas Market Potential through Investment in African Energy (IAE) 2024

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The Invest in African Energy Forum (IAE) in Paris this month will feature a dedicated panel discussion on “New Opportunities in Growth Markets” in Africa’s key gas markets. The panel will include industry experts such as Bráulio de Brito, Ian Cloke, Marica Calebrese, and David Pappoe Jr., with Justin Cochrane moderating the discussion.

Organized by Energy Capital&Power, IAE 2024 aims to facilitate investment between African energy markets and global investors. The event, taking place on May 14-15, 2024, will provide delegates with two days of intensive engagement with industry experts, project developers, investors, and policymakers.

Angola and Mozambique, as emerging gas producers, are redefining their strategies to attract long-term investments and expand gas infrastructure. Angola aims to establish diversified, gas-based industries by retaining 25% of its natural gas production in-country by 2030. Mozambique, one of the fastest-growing LNG markets globally, is seeking new investors to facilitate its gas market expansion, with projected gas export revenues reaching $91.7 billion over the next decade.

The panel will discuss plans for expanded gas field development across the continent, Africa’s current gas monetization strategies, LNG export opportunities, and investment prospects across the gas value chain. Angola recently completed its Falcão 2 Gas Project, while Mozambique has two large-scale LNG developments in the Rovuma Basin.

With Africa’s gas markets presenting lucrative opportunities for investors, the panel discussion at IAE 2024 is set to provide valuable insights into the continent’s evolving energy landscape.
